October 13, 2025Mid-Term Proposal Feedback
Students should submit a mid-term proposal in advance to their Org Stakeholder
Org Stakeholders must provide feedback in writing AND/OR synchronously
Rather than providing grammatical edits or “fixing the work themselves,” Org Stakeholders should focus on broader questions or things for students to consider.
- “How might we collect this data from non-participants?” requires students to consider the trade-offs of “ideal” comparison groups and the realistic challenges of data collection to a greater extent than: “Instead of X, let’s use sample Y as a comparison group.”
Students will be expected to adapt their Proposals based on feedback from the Org Stakeholder prior to submitting to the instructor.
-
November 17, 2025Evaluation Design Draft
- Students should submit an update on their project that includes an evaluation design and sampling strategy. These plans can be in the form of a comprehensive and detailed outline rather than narrative (paragraph) form.
- This must be detailed enough that the Org Stakeholder can understand the student’s approach to the evaluation and provide valuable feedback.
- Students will be expected to incorporate this feedback into their final product due at the end of the term.

Students will build real-world evaluation proposals based on evaluation theory, data collection, logic models, and outcome measurement. These plans will be grounded in public health and social justice principles and developed in close collaboration with your team through structured check-ins across the semester.
Your organizations will gain fresh perspectives and support in assessing your impact, improving program design, and identifying key metrics, while also mentoring aspiring public health professionals.
Ideal partners include health, social justice, or environmental organizations based in the Midwest (other locations welcome too).
Learners
Deliverables are flexible and will be defined collaboratively prior to the start of the project. Final outputs typically include a comprehensive evaluation plan with logic models, evaluation questions, SMART objectives, KPIs, data sources, sampling strategies, and ethical considerations, tailored to the needs and goals of your organization.
